🏁 FVAQ Round 2 – Morgan Park March 28 – 29, 2026.

Round 2 of the 2026 FVAQ Championship at Morgan Park delivered tight racing, mixed fortunes, and a shake-up in the title fight.

We also saw the return of 3 drivers to this round who missed out racing in Round 1. John Reichstein and Ken Ray returned for some action since last year, along with Brett Hanan who hasn’t been seen since 2024. Brett brought out his brand new built “Widebody” Rapier to see how it matched up against some seasoned competitors. Sunglasses were necessary due it’s gleaming clean and bright white body!

🔥 Overall Round Highlights

It was Alex Beswick who emerged as the standout performer of the weekend, banking 3x race wins after being unable to qualify with a mechanical issue, to take the round win on 113 points. His pace across all four races proved difficult to match, putting him firmly in control when it mattered.

Chris Beahan showed strong consistency qualifying 2nd and finishing every race in 2nd. Just behind on 101 points, he keeps himself well within striking distance in the championship.

Eddie McFaul rounded out the top three for the round with 80 points, capitalising on solid finishes despite not quite having the outright pace of the top two.

A dramatic weekend for Alexander Hedemann, the 2025 championship winner, saw him take pole and show race-winning speed, including fastest lap in race 1, but a DNF in Race 2 due to a broken stub axle proved costly. Despite this, he still managed 77 points, salvaging valuable championship points and keeping himself in the hunt for a back-to-back championship. A notable effort also to Alex and David Hedemann, driving home to gather some parts to return many hours later to repair the car under John Alder’s expertise, late at night to get the back in readiness for Sunday’s action! Top effort guys!

⚔️ Midfield Battles

The midfield saw intense competition: Jeff Robinson (74 pts) stayed consistent across all races. Adam Beswick (66 pts) and Ryan Mills (60 pts) traded strong finishes. Brett Hanan (51 pts) held off challengers with steady scoring.

Once again Jeff showed how tough it is to get around him, with Adam hot on his heels for most of the weekend. Ryan is also in the mix, but with a few niggly problems in setup throughout the weekend. Knowing how determined he is, we’re sure he will show some promised pace and rattle some of the competitors to life!

Further back, John Reichstein and Adrian Taylor and Ken Ray had a mixed weekend, all impacted by DNFs, unfortunately with Adrian and Ken coming together at turn 6 in the first race due to Adrian having a busted tyre.

🏆 2026 FVAQ Championship

After Round 2, the title fight is heating up, with the top three separated by less than 20 points: Alex Beswick – 196 pts Alexander Hedemann – 193 pts Chris Beahan – 178 pts

Beswick now leads, but Hedemann’s raw speed keeps him right in contention, while Beahan’s consistency keeps pressure on both.

Just behind, Eddie McFaul and Jeff Robinson are tied on 146 pts, setting up a strong battle for P4 Ryan Mills (131 pts) and Adam Beswick (130 pts) remain close in the midfield standings.

🥇 Masters Cup Championship

The Masters Cup is shaping into a tight contest: Eddie McFaul – 146 pts Jeff Robinson – 146 pts Adam Beswick – 130 pts.

A dead heat at the top between McFaul and Robinson sets up a thrilling fight heading into Round 3.

Adrian Taylor (86 pts) and Brett Hanan (51 pts) continue to build momentum, while the rest of the field looks to close the gap in upcoming rounds.

🚦 Looking Ahead

With two rounds complete, the championship is finely poised. Consistency is proving just as important as outright speed, and with Hedemann showing race-winning pace, Beswick leading the standings, and Beahan right behind, the fight for the 2026 title is well and truly on.

Round 3 will be held at Morgan Park again, on May 23-24, 2026. Once entries are open, we encourage you to submit your entry as soon as possible to secure your place on the grid.
