FVAQ Round 4 Race Report

The Formula Vee Association of Queensland returned to Queensland Raceway for Round 4 of the 2026 championship, delivering four closely contested races that kept competitors busy throughout the day. While consistency proved to be the key to success, there were standout performances across the field as drivers battled for every championship point.
Alexander Hedemann emerged as the dominant force of the weekend, taking victories in Races 1 and 4 while adding second-place finishes in Races 2 and 3. Fastest laps in Races 1, 3 and 4 capped off an outstanding performance, giving him a commanding 113-point haul and overall round victory, extending this Championship lead.
Very close behind was Alex Beswick, whose speed was evident all weekend. After claiming pole position, Beswick won Races 2 and 3 and finished second in Races 1 and 4 to finish just two points behind Hedemann on 111 points, highlighting just how close the battle at the front was.
Eddie McFaul completed the podium with a consistent weekend, recording four third-place finishes and the fastest lap in Race 2, and a new lap record of 1:25.030
His reliability earned him 89 points, comfortably securing third overall.
The battle for fourth saw Chris Beahan put together another consistent weekend, improving as the day progressed with fourth-place finishes in the final three races after taking fifth in the opener. His 78-point total kept him ahead of Ryan Mills, who finished on 74 points after a mix of fourth and fifth-place finishes.
Further down the order, Ed Lawrence edged Mark Moran in a close contest for sixth overall, scoring 59 points to Moran’s 57. Peter Butler finished eighth on 49 points, while newcomer Aaron Leech and Masters Cup leader Adam Beswick shared ninth place on 43 points.
Brett Hanan and Adrian Taylor enjoyed solid outings, finishing on 41 and 39 points respectively. Unfortunately, Daniel Kirkham was unable to start any of the four races due to mechanical issues arising during practice.
With just two points separating the top two drivers across four races, Round 4 showcased the competitive nature of Formula Vee racing in Queensland. As the championship heads into the second half of the season, the title fight remains wide open, with momentum firmly in the hands of Hedemann but Beswick proving he has the pace to challenge at every round.
